This past weekend, On That Note along with the rest of the UCLA campus joined in a massive celebration known as Bruin Day to welcome the new prospective freshman for the 2017-2018 academic year. Oh how time flies!
Beautiful weather, excited baby Bruins, blue/yellow balloons, free UCLA swag everywhere…Bruin Day was surely lively this year too! We had the chance to talk to lots of awesome new students as we tabled at Royce quad for a couple of hours (thankfully in the shade). It’s so great to see people who love music just as much as we do. A really common question we noticed people asking was, “I’m not that good at singing. Is that still ok?” Our answer to that is of course it is! We really believe in passion over talent. The most rewarding feeling is not that you sang perfectly during that one performance, but knowing that you and your friends have sung and grown tremendously as singers and musicians. That’s what we’re all about 🙂
We then ended the day with a quick showcase of a couple of our favourite songs up on the stage. Valerie by Amy Winehouse has been an absolute OTN staple this whole year. Seems like our audience felt the same way! Definitely saw lots of grins and nods when that one came on. Overall, an awesome and joyful day!
